As soon as food or liquids come into contact with the fabric, it should be carefully blotted clean with a clean cloth straight away. This will absorb any residue and at least prevent it from being drawn further into the upholstery, as well as reducing the size of the visible stain. Treat the spot with clear water once you have blotted the stain. Use a second clean cloth for this, slightly moistened in advance, and rub it directly over the affected area. Stains on upholstered furniture should always be cleaned from the outer edge towards the middle. This will avoid spreading the stain onto areas that are currently not affected. For better cleaning results, a degreasing agent is recommended. This should be lightly applied to a wet, clean cloth and will absorb the contaminants. You should use detergents very sparingly and only selectively. Avoid any harsh cleaning agents.
